Vintage Early 1960s Rose Marie Reid Skirted Floral Swim Suit

Canadian-born American swimwear designer, business woman and Mormon missionary, Rose Marie Reid, made her first bathing suit in 1937.  In 1950, she patented a swimsuit with photopermeable fabric allowing for whole body tanning.  Her daughter, Carol Reid Burr, designed for her as well, adding the "hourglass" suit to the line in the 1950s.  Reid's feminine and fashionable suits were ingeniously designed to give women a flattering shape with built-in bras, control panels, strategic boning and slimming lines. The charming designs ranged from tailored classics to playful high fashion pieces and attracted clientele including Rita Hayworth, Joan Crawford and Marilyn Monroe.  This particular suit is no exception featuring a flattering scoop neckline with a lower scoop in the back, a cheerful floral print and a skirted bottom.  The suit is made of a durable material and the skirted bottom is paired with the built-in bra giving you the perfect hourglass figure.  Garment was stretched a bit for measuring.  ALL BATHING SUIT SALES ARE FINAL.
